It will be an urban walk and involves driving to Oakridge Mall where there is free parking to catch the Canada Line Sky train ($1.75 one way for seniors, Visa accepted) to the Olympic Village area.<\/span><\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_985\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/whatcomwomenwalkers.org\/?attachment_id=985\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-985\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-985\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-985\" alt=\"Vancouver Street Scene\" src=\"http:\/\/whatcomwomenwalkers.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/photo-e1370889817386-300x225.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"http:\/\/whatcomwomenwalkers.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/photo-e1370889817386-300x225.jpg 300w, http:\/\/whatcomwomenwalkers.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/photo-e1370889817386.jpg 640w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-985\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Vancouver Street Scene<\/p><\/div>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'comic sans ms', sans-serif;\">This area was purpose built for the winter Olympic athletes of 2010. \u00a0Since then, many more condominiums have been added, as have parks. \u00a0We will walk from Olympic Station in an easterly direction around the sea wall past Science World, which you may choose to visit ($21-$27).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'comic sans ms', sans-serif;\">The walk continues west towards Yaletown, filled with shops and cafes. \u00a0After a look around here, we will walk again to just under the Granville Street bridge. \u00a0There we will hop on an Aquabus ($5 Cdn cash) to cross False Creek on the way to Granville Island for lunch at the Sandbar restaurant, or the venue of your choice at the Market.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'comic sans ms', sans-serif;\">Your carpool can decide whether to spend some more time at the Market or begin heading home. \u00a0We will continue walking east\u00a0to the Olympic Station, making a circle. \u00a0Then retrace our route back to our parked cars, and home.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'comic sans ms', sans-serif;\">Our walk will be about four miles and offer interesting architecture and the many gardens, parks. The whole walk has water views and the sea wall is flat and paved. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'comic sans ms', sans-serif;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Time:<\/span> The group will meet at Fred Meyer Bakerview at 8:15 am for an 8:30 carpool departure. \u00a0Return time will be determined by each carload.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'comic sans ms', sans-serif;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Important:<\/span> Drivers must be paid a $10 gasoline fee. \u00a0Nexus drivers will only accept Nexus passengers. \u00a0Everyone else must bring a passport.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'comic sans ms', sans-serif; font-size: 12px;\"><strong>Interested participants should contact walk organizer, Carola Anderson, to reserve a space.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>There will be a special walk in Vancouver, Canada for REGULAR walkers on June 5, 2013.
