Walk – don’t run – to our Annual Meeting
Walking Friends are all invited to our 2016 Annual Meeting at the REI meeting room on Friday, October 14 at 10:30 am. Welcome our new leaders Susan Hirst, Deb Middaugh, and Jeanne Uhles. Help set the agenda for next year, take care of a little business, and see your friends. Dues for the year will be collected at the meeting ($10.00)
Walkers explored the wetlands and woods in the 100 Acre Woods (AKA Chuckanut Community Forest) on March 31, 2016. Here’s a link to good map of the trails: http://www.bellingham.org/insider-blogs/frolicking-in-fairhaven-park-forest/
Set for Monday, April 18, 2016 – special walk along the Tommy Thompson Trail in Anacortes
We will start at the Cap Sante Marina in downtown Anacortes and turn around at March Point near the oil refineries. The last part of the walk is across the old railroad trestle with views of Fidalgo Bay, the surrounding islands, aquatic birds, and Mt. Baker, if it’s clear.
Trail stats: 6.6 miles RT, zero elevation gain, and 3 public restrooms along the way.
Meet at Sehome Shopping Center by 8:15 for an 8:30 departure. Park along the east side of the parking lot closest to 36th Street in front of Haggens and Rite Aid.
RSVP: Please contact Susan Dean for additional information and to let her know if you’d like to participate.
Carpool groups can decide if you are eating lunch out in Anacortes.
